About Absolutely Incredible Kid Day
Absolutely Incredible Kid Day® is an annual letter-writing campaign to honor children has been deemed an overwhelming success by child care experts, educators, celebrities, leaders, parents and kids everywhere.
Research shows that simple words of encouragement and compassion can make a difference in a child's life. Putting those words into a letter allows the recipient to hang onto those encouraging words, and return to them for inspiration and guidance, often for years to come.
This is the cornerstone of Camp Fire USA's Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®: communicating to America's most precious resource — our youth — how valuable and absolutely incredible they are.
Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®, celebrated annually is Camp Fire USA's national call to action asking adults to write letters of love and support to youth — sons and daughters, nieces and nephews, neighbors, even kids they don't know. This national campaign to honor children has been recognized as an event to inspire adult–to–child interaction.
Camp Fire USA Tejas Council has expanded this idea to include a luncheon celebration recognizing local Absolutely Incredible Kids and honoring local adults who have made important contributions to youth. The celebration honors ten youth through out districts in each of the following counties: Freestone, Hill, Limestone and McLennan, and focuses on the positive impact youth exhibit in their everyday lives. The honored youth are selected based upon criteria including performing acts of courage, generosity and/or heroism within their families, school or community.
The 2010 Absolutely Incredible Adult Award will be presented to Ambassador Lyndon Olsen for serving as an absolutely, incredible role model for the youth of today. Ambassador Olsen will also be the guest speaker for the event.
